![]() The problems with this mechanic are as follows: Albion has many systems that are working well, and when combined with other existing or past features and small changes, could elevate territory warfare to becoming the pinnacle content of the game.Ĭurrently territories can be launched on by killing the sentry mage and channeling an attack on the tower. While I believe the feature of territory warfare must be overhauled – it doesn’t mean the development team needs to start at ground zero. In this document, I will break down each aspect of territory warfare, how it is currently effecting gameplay, and propose solutions using already-existing features and mechanics in the game that have shown promise. This has resulted in ZvZ warfare suffering greatly, and a type of content that was once most sought-after, now becoming more of a chore or something simply not worth doing anymore. This residual decline in the importance and rewards of territories, combined with the bland and unfun nature of the launch-and-capture mechanics, have all but lobotomized the content and gameplay surrounding them. With the emergence of 5v5 and 20v20 Crystals, the advent of the Conqueror’s Challenge, and most importantly the existence of HQ’s, territories are no longer a necessity to protect Hideouts, live in the black zones, or even advance in the guild season rankings. ![]() Where territories used to be the primary engine for season points and guild economies, as well as serve as the physical homes of players in the black zone, now territories serve a more peripheral purpose to other more important black zone objectives – namely Hideouts. Not only has the method in which territories are attacked and defended changed, but their rewards and impact on the game have also been updated. ![]() Throughout the 6 years of the game’s public existence, this feature has evolved from instanced 5v5 guild-vs-guild control to the current open-world ZvZ capture system. Territory warfare in Albion Online has been a staple of endgame PvP content since the beginning of the game. ![]()
